Eileen Grey By Peter Adam
Comprehensive book on the architecture and design work of Eileen Gray, this is the revised edition.
A little inside information. Page 378 shows an image of Eileen Gray studying modern architecture of a mystery or unknown location. I can tell you that image is the market Square in Harlow New Town in 1968. Harlow was the vanguard of post war town planning. Having lived there during this period it was a bright vibrant place to live and was a great piece of town planning. However, the town planning did not stretch into the future to deal with the consequences of putting a lot of similar aged people together, housing that would 30/40/50 years on need parking for 2/3/4 cars per family and many other social problems. That said at the time Eileen Gray’s visit and study it was a great piece of town planning with some great architecture.
